Gregg, Kenneth (floral) The Tableau Series reflects the artist's desire to create a new photographic look for a very familiar subject, flowers.Through the process of image transfer (exposing the subject on a 4x5 inch Polaroid(TM) film, under developing the print and then pressing the emulsion sheet onto damp watercolor paper, thereby transferring the dyes and image into the surface fibers of the paper), Gregg is able to create a both a "painterly" and "romantic" feel. The process deftly enhances the emotional impact of flowers. Very soft studio lighting conditions quiet the form of the subject and reduce the sense of depth, augmenting the painterly effect. The Tableau Series is composed of 20 image transfer prints of florals, California mission details, and soft scenics. The images are 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" and are over matted on archival mat board. |
